By 2040 I believe every new vehicle produced will be an electric car-Elon Musk
In this article we discuss: the end-of life of cars. Recycling scrapped car parts, is in itself, a costly and energy intensive process. Electric vehicle disposal:
Mercedes-Benz was aiming to go all-electric by 2030, and launched a series of pure-electric models, such as the EQE SUV and EQS limousine. Like many other car brands, Mercedes is unsure when it’ll do away with combustion engines. It's new strategy is to offer hybrid and electric versions of its models side-by-side, both with the same name. The all-new CLA that was launched earlier this year is a perfect example. (AutoExpress)
Porsche and Mercedes-Benz are beginning to pull back from their once-ambitious electrification, and plan a striking shift, from just a few years ago, when the race toward an all-electric future seemed unstoppable. The truth is, costs remain steep, profits are thin, and demand has stalled. Europe, it seems, is not yet ready to fully embrace the electric revolution.
Typically a self-charging hybrid will only have a life-span of around 140 000 miles. This is because the need to replace the battery at 100 000 miles, will often spell the end of it's life, due to the high cost of batteries. The life of EV's and hybrids will only be extended if the cost of batteries are cut by half. Still a hybrid is a good choice, because hybrid battery replacement, is considerably lower than those of EV's.
